Free Fresh Fridays

We share free, locally grown produce with the entire community every Friday.

Every Friday from 9:00-12:00 (ish), we open up the Community Cupboard space for our Free Fresh Friday program. During this time anyone is welcome to stop by and take home leftover food from our Thursday pantry day. Our goal on Fridays is to keep good food in the community and make it easy for folks to access it, as well as reduce food waste coming from the Cupboard. Come on by!

What’s available

In the summer, the Free Fresh Fridays shelves are often overflowing with fresh produce. We’re lucky to receive generous donations from local farmer Dale Pierson, along with fruits, vegetables, and herbs shared by other neighbours from their own gardens.

In the winter, things are a little quieter, but there’s still plenty of good food to go around. We usually have pantry leftovers like potatoes, apples, and other root vegetables, along with prepared foods from our Night Kitchen program like chilis, soup, and sometimes desserts.

Throughout the year, we also put out bread, deli items, produce, and bakery donations from the Camden Hannaford, which help fill out the offerings.

Come hang out!

Our Free Fresh Friday program coincides with our Community Coffee get togethers that we also host on Friday mornings. Folks gather to drink coffee and shop for produce, and lots of good conversation is shared amongst neighbours. Come by some time, grab some coffee, and shop for the week!
