Night Kitchen

We prepare and share home-cooked meals with residents who need extra support.

What We Do
The Night Kitchen program provides heat-and-serve home-cooked meals, lovingly prepared by volunteers and Community Cupboard Manager Amelia MacDougall Fleming, to ensure neighbors have nourishing food when they need it most.

How to Volunteer
Volunteers are always welcome, whether you love to cook or just want to help with prep, packaging, or cleanup. No professional cooking experience is required!

To get involved, contact Amelia (207-691-1281 or amelia@stgeorgecommunity.org), and you’ll be notified about our next Night Kitchen meetup and upcoming volunteer opportunities!

When & Where We Meet
Night Kitchen volunteers meet once every two weeks at the Blueberry Cove Campground Kitchen from 6:00–8:00 PM. Each gathering is a collaborative cooking night where we work together in a welcoming, supportive environment.

How the Meals Are Shared
At each Night Kitchen session, we prepare two meals, with 40 servings each:

-One set of 40 meals is distributed the following day (Thursday) during Community Cupboard pickup hours.

-The second set of 40 meals is frozen and distributed the next Thursday during Community Cupboard pickup hours.

Cooking With Pantry Ingredients
All Night Kitchen meals are prepared using ingredients commonly available through the Community Cupboard. This intentional approach ensures that the recipes are familiar, accessible, and easy for clients to recreate at home with the foods they receive.

Recipes We’ve Cooked
