Hardship Assistance Fund

We provide up to $500 per household each year to help families overcome sudden financial hardships.

The Hardship Assistance Fund offers up to $500 per household annually to help families manage unexpected expenses. This short-term assistance is designed to prevent emergencies from becoming long-term setbacks by helping households remain safely housed, maintain essential utilities, and meet other critical needs during times of instability.

Support may be used for urgent expenses such as rent arrears, utility shut-offs, heating costs, or other unforeseen financial gaps that threaten a household’s stability. Assistance is paired with resource navigation and referrals to ensure residents are also connected to longer-term supports when needed.

In 2025, StGCDC connected 13 households with direct financial assistance, helping them avoid further crisis such as eviction, loss of utilities, or displacement. By providing timely, flexible support, the Hardship Assistance program strengthens household stability, reduces reliance on emergency systems, and supports community members as they work toward long-term resilience.
