Google Career Certificates

Flexible Online Options

Through our partnership with the Maine Community College System (MCCS) and the Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine’s Workforce, we’re excited to share this opportunity for St. George residents to earn Google Career Certificates.

You can train online, on your own time, for high-demand, high-wage careers. Courses are self-paced and designed by industry leaders at Google. Most students finish in 3-6 months by spending 10 hours a week. These certificates are recognized by employers across the country.

Past Offerings

January 2026 – Knife Sharpening with Dale Pierson: Using an antique grinding stone pedal wheel with a seat sandstone sharpener that he found at his grandparents’ house, Dale helped an enthusiastic group of learners pedal their way to new skills, lots of laughs, and much sharper knives!

December 2025Build & Race a Toboggan with the Apprenticeshop: The Apprenticeshop offered a weekend workshop in late-December at the GRACE Innovation Center where five St. George residents built three toboggans! Among other skills, participants learned how to steam and bend wood under the expert guidance of Apprenticeshop Boatbuilding Instructor João Strout-Bentes.

November 2025 – Winter Food Storage: Drying Parsley: With plenty of fresh parsley from his farm, Dale Pierson led a workshop on dehydrating and saving food for the winter. People had fun, learned together, and ended up with A LOT of fresh parsley!
