Amelia MacDougall
Community Cupboard Manager
About
Amelia MacDougall is the Community Cupboard Manager at the St. George Community Development Corporation. Originally from a small rural town in New Brunswick, she grew up surrounded by tight-knit community life and the understanding that neighbors look out for one another. She spent her high school and university summers working on a vegetable farm before moving to Maine, where she continued farming full time. Those years gave her a grounded appreciation for local food systems, the realities of rural food access, and the importance of community-based solutions.
Amelia graduated from Mount Allison University with First Class Honors in Geography, with additional studies in Sociology and Women’s & Gender Studies. While in school, she became involved in local sustainability and community initiatives, including youth organizing and serving on the Mayor’s Roundtable for Climate Change. These experiences reinforced her belief that local, practical, efforts can make meaningful and tangible differences in people’s lives.
Alongside her work with the Community Cupboard, Amelia is a rug hooker and small business owner. In her personal life, she loves spending time outdoors birding and foraging, and is currently learning to play the harp.
Amelia lives in Rockland but feels deeply at home in St. George. She is grateful to be part of a place that values connection, resourcefulness, and mutual care. She is honored to support neighbors through food access, community programming, and the everyday work of helping the community take care of one another.
