Town of St. George – EMS Director

Job Summary: The town of St. George is seeking candidates to fill its EMS Director position. This role will lead a department consisting of four full-time paramedics (including the Director) and various per-diem and shift-pay employees. In addition to 911 coverage, the EMS Director will be responsible for maintaining effective and efficient operations, managing the business aspects of the department, and overseeing the Community Paramedicine program.

The town of St. George has a population of approximately 2,600 full-time residents with a seasonal population of around 5,000. Qualifications Must meet all of the job qualifications of a licensed paramedic as well as:
• Supervisory or management experience in emergency services.
• Strong leadership qualities.
• Effective communicator (both verbal and written communication.)
• Clear understanding of licensing requirements for personnel and service.
• Understanding of the Community Paramedicine philosophy.
• Maine driver’s license
• Maine EMS Paramedic license
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, FEMA requirements Responsibilities

All the responsibilities of the license level at which they practice as well as:
• Management and supervision of the department staff
• Oversight of overall ambulance operations
• Management of the business operations and department budget
• Act as a point of contact with the Maine EMS, hospitals, physicians, nurses, and the service Medical Director for QA/QI and compliance
• Maintain strong communication with local officials and local services
• Involvement in the hiring of new personnel
• Handle disciplinary issues within the service as outlined by the personnel policy
• Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding the operation of the service
• Ensure the prompt relicensing of the service and vehicles with Maine EMS Compensation
